If you're looking for a single stroller that's well-made, reasonably-priced, stylish, simple to fold, and easy to use with a car seat or bassinet, the Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ are two of your top choices.

Yet several differences between the models—like the strollers' weight, maneuverability and car seat compatibility—inspire some families to choose the more-durable MIXX2 while others opt for the lighter CRUZ.

We'll explain all the differences between the Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ in this in-depth comparison.

(Looking to compare the MIXX2 with UPPAbaby's convertible/double stroller? Check out our UPPAbaby VISTA vs. Nuna MIXX2 comparison.)

First, let's take a look at each stroller.

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Stroller Comparison

Nuna MIXX2

For many parents, the Nuna MIXX2 checks all the boxes: a smooth ride with sturdy wheels, an easy fold, compatibility with a bassinet and top-rated car seat, premium materials, and a luxury look without the designer price point.

The Dutch manufacturer's most popular stroller can be used from birth with its true-flat seat, a bassinet, or a car seat from Nuna's PIPA series regarded for its innovative safety and style.

The UPPAbaby CRUZ answers one of a new parent's most-frequently-asked questions: What's the lightest stroller (aside from travel strollers that are too flimsy for everyday use)?

At 21 pounds, the CRUZ is one of the lightest full-sized strollers available, featuring a simple, standing fold; plenty of sun protection; and compatibility with a bassinet or a car seat from UPPAbaby and a number of other brands.

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Price

The Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ are similarly priced, with the MIXX2 priced $50 higher than the CRUZ.

However, if you're considering adding a bassinet to your stroller, the cost savings of the CRUZ are negated, as the CRUZ bassinet costs $40 more.

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Weight and Dimensions

The Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ are comparable in size, with almost identical dimensions when the strollers are folded. But the MIXX2 weighs 5 pounds more than the CRUZ, mostly because of the difference in wheel size.

The four wheels of the CRUZ are small and thin, allowing the stroller to measure among the lightest on the market. The larger, thicker wheels of the MIXX2 make the stroller smoother and more durable, especially when strolling over uneven terrain like grass, dirt and gravel.

  • MIXX2: 26.8 pounds
  • CRUZ: 21.5 pounds

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Configurations

The Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ share the same configurations: Both feature stroller seats that can face either direction, as well as adjustable recline and footrest options, and both can be paired with an infant car seat or bassinet.

Here's a look at the configurations for each stroller.

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Bassinet

The bassinets for the UPPAbaby CRUZ and Nuna MIXX2 are approved for overnight sleeping, offering a safe place for baby to sleep both in the stroller and in your home.

Both bassinets are sold separately: the CRUZ bassinet sells for $189.99, while the MIXX2 bassinet is available for $149.95.

A bassinet provides a safer and more comfortable place for your baby to rest, allowing her to lay flat on her back rather than sit slightly upright in a car seat.

Both bassinets are ventilated, allowing more air flow than the protective foam of a car seat that can make babies hot and sweaty. And both offer complete sun coverage: The MIXX2 bassinet includes a magnetized cover (called the Dream Drape), while the UPPAbaby bassinet includes a UPF 50+ visor that extends from inside the canopy.

With their hard bottoms, both bassinets can be placed anywhere, making them convenient to bring to Grandma's house or on a weekend getaway.

Both bassinets can be used with a bassinet stand inside the home, which many parents use at their bedside in baby's early days. And both bassinet stands remain useful after the baby outgrows the bassinet: The Nuna MIXX stand ($99.95) can also be used with the stroller seat for a portable high chair, while the UPPAbaby bassinet stand ($149.95) can be paired with a fabric insert to create a laundry hamper.

Depending on the height of your baby, the Nuna and UPPAbaby bassinets can be used until approximately 6 months. The MIXX2 bassinet might buy your baby slightly more time in the bassinet, as it's four inches longer than the CRUZ bassinet.

  • CRUZ: 25"H x 17"W x 31"L
  • MIXX2: 24.5"H x 16.5"W x 35"L

  • CRUZ: 20 pounds or until baby can push up on hands and knees (whichever comes first)
  • MIXX2: 17 pounds or 27"

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Fold

The UPPAbaby CRUZ and Nuna MIXX2 are easy to fold but do so in different ways.

The Nuna MIXX2 features a clamshell fold, which prevents the seat fabrics from touching the ground. In a unique feature, the stroller can be folded with the seat facing either direction, and it can be rolled like a suitcase for easy carrying. See how to fold the Nuna MIXX2 in the video below.

The CRUZ stands when folded, which offers convenience for storage and for lifting the stroller into the car. The seat and canopy are protected from touching the ground when folded, while the bumper bar makes it easy to pick up the stroller. See how the CRUZ folds in the video below.

Car Seats Compatible with Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ

Both the Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ can be paired with a number of infant car seats to create a convenient travel system.

While Nuna and UPPAbaby each make infant car seats, the CRUZ is also compatible with car seats from other brands—including Nuna—using a car seat adapter. If you're considering both the Nuna and UPPAbaby car seats, check out this Nuna PIPA vs. UPPAbaby MESA comparison.

Car Seats Compatible with Nuna MIXX2

Nuna's three infant car seats—the Nuna PIPA, PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX—each pair with the MIXX2 using a set of included adapters. For the differences between the three models, see our Nuna PIPA vs. PIPA Lite vs. PIPA Lite LX comparison.

Nuna also offers a unique accessory, the MIXX2 ring adapter (sold separately), which makes the car seat faster and easier to snap in and out of the stroller.

In most cases, two hands are needed to attach a car seat to a stroller. The ring adapter makes adding and removing the car seat a one-handed maneuver. Both types of adapters fold with the MIXX2. See both adapters in the photo below.

Only the Nuna car seats are approved for use with the Nuna MIXX2. However, car seats from the European brands Maxi-Cosi and Cybex also fit on the stroller because they share a similar design with Nuna.

Car Seats Compatible with UPPAbaby CRUZ

In addition to the UPPAbaby MESA, the CRUZ is compatible with several other brands with a car seat adapter (sold separately for $40-$50).

The MESA is the easiest car seat option for the CRUZ, as it connects without adapters and can be removed from the stroller with one hand using a convenient button on the top of the handle.

The following car seats are also compatible with the UPPAbaby CRUZ:

  • UPPAbaby MESA (no adapters required)
  • Chicco KeyFit and KeyFit30
  • Cybex Aton, Aton 2, Aton Q and Cloud Q
  • Maxi-Cosi Mico Max 30, Mico AP, Mico NXT, Mico, Citi, Cabrio and CabrioFix
  • Nuna PIPA, PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX
  • Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 and 4-35 Nido

Nuna MIXX2 vs. UPPAbaby CRUZ Stroller Comparison

Families who choose the MIXX2 tend to prioritize maneuverability because they need a stroller with better wheels for navigating terrain like snow, soccer fields or trails.

Either way, the Nuna MIXX2 and UPPAbaby CRUZ are both top choices for a well-rounded single stroller that's well-made, stylish and easy to use.
