Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX Stroller Comparison

Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX Stroller Comparison

Next up in the evolution of the popular Nuna MIXX stroller: A smaller fold, a smoother ride and a new name—the Nuna MIXX Next.

The MIXX Next builds on the MIXX by folding 6.5 inches smaller than its predecessor and standing on its own when folded. It also offers a better ride, thanks to improved suspension and redesigned rubber wheels for added maneuverability, and a new magnetic harness buckle.

Visually, the MIXX and MIXX Next are almost identical. The MIXX Next, updated in early 2021, is the current model, while the discontinued MIXX, which costs $100 less, is available at Strolleria while inventory lasts.

So is the Nuna MIXX Next worth it? We’ll help you decide in this Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX comparison.

Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX Weight and Dimensions

One of the main differences between the Nuna MIXX and the Nuna MIXX Next is the folded size.

The Nuna MIXX Next folds to a length that’s 6.5 inches shorter than the MIXX when folded, thanks to a redesigned axle that folds into the stroller. The back wheels retract under the frame, allowing the MIXX Next to more easily fit into your trunk or storage space.

However, the MIXX Next isn’t smaller than the MIXX in all ways: It’s 2.5 inches taller than the MIXX when folded, and it's also just over one pound heavier.

  • MIXX: 27 pounds
  • MIXX Next: 28.3 pounds

How to Fold Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX

Folding each model involves the same motion: Using two triggers on the sides of the stroller, the MIXX folds like a clamshell, with the fabrics protected from touching the ground.

But in another key difference, the Nuna MIXX Next stands when folded, which can help with lifting the stroller without straining your back. When the MIXX is folded, you’ll need to bend to the ground to pick up the stroller.

Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX Wheels and Maneuverability

The Nuna MIXX Next has redesigned wheels and suspension to help the stroller absorb more shock over uneven terrain.

The MIXX Next has additional suspension in the rear wheels for a more comfortable ride, and the front wheels have been changed from a plastic/rubber blend to rubber for added durability.

The MIXX also has sturdy wheels and all-wheel suspension, making either model a great choice for families who take long walks and encounter terrain like rough sidewalks, grass, gravel, dirt and snow.

Nuna MIXX Next vs. Nuna MIXX Harness

As of early 2021, the Nuna MIXX Next has an extra feature that makes daily strolling just a little bit easier. The harness buckle is magnetic, making it a snap to help your child in and out of the stroller.

The prior MIXX, like most strollers, has a five-point harness that requires snapping each section into the buckle, which takes a bit more time.

Both stroller models are available in Caviar Black and Granite Gray, neutral colors seen across all five models of Nuna’s PIPA infant car seat series.

The Nuna MIXX comes in Birch, which includes an off-white canopy with a gray seat and basket. The Birch color is also available for the PIPA, PIPA RX and PIPA Lite LX car seats.

The MIXX Next introduces a new brown-and-black combination, Timber, which will also be available for the Nuna PIPA RX and PIPA Lite R infant car seats.
