2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Stroller Comparison

The UPPAbaby Cruz is bigger on features and smaller in its fold for the V2 model.

The redesigned and renamed UPPAbaby Cruz V2—available for immediate shipping at Strolleria—folds more compactly while offering a roomier toddler seat, bigger storage basket, and larger wheels with added suspension to enhance maneuverability.

The Cruz V2 was introduced in 2020 and will continue into 2021, 2022, and 2023 with no functional differences. However, UPPAbaby is making color changes to the stroller: See this 2022 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2021 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 comparison or also this 2021 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 comparison for details.

2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Wheels and Maneuverability

One of the biggest differences for the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is the stroller's larger, softer wheels and enhanced suspension in all four wheels.

The previous Cruz has smaller wheels with suspension only in the front, which can make for a bumpier ride over rough surfaces like grass, gravel and dirt.

For the Cruz V2, larger wheels and dual-action suspension help soften the ride, especially as your growing child adds weight to the stroller.

With dual-action suspension, springs work independently to provide the smoothest ride, a feature not seen on other strollers. When you apply pressure to the frame of the Cruz V2, you'll feel the stroller recoil and bounce back—something you won't feel on the older model.

See below for the change in wheel size from the Cruz to Cruz V2.

      • Cruz: 6.4" front wheels, 8.5" rear wheels
      • Cruz V2: 7" front wheels, 10" rear wheels

2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Toddler Seat

Good news for parents of tall kids: The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 offers more space and improved comfort for a larger child.

Compared with the older Cruz, the seat back and leg rest on the Cruz V2 are both 2" longer, and the footrest is a half-inch deeper.

On the left side in the photo below, compare the size of the Toddler Seat on the Cruz V2 (left, in Alice Dusty Pink) and the previous Cruz (right, in Jordan Charcoal Melange).

See the measurements for the Cruz Toddler Seat below.

      Seat Back

      • Cruz: 18"
      • Cruz V2: 20"

      Leg Rest Length

      • Cruz: 9"
      • Cruz V2: 11"

      Footrest Depth

      • Cruz: 2"
      • Cruz V2: 2.5"

In another improvement to the seat, the Cruz V2 has a no-rethread harness for faster and easier height adjustments. On the previous model, you'll need to remove the harness from its slots and reinsert them to make changes as your child grows.

2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Canopy

The canopy of the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 was redesigned to add better sun coverage—and style points, too.

The older Cruz has a silver sunshade that can be pulled out of the canopy. Instead of this shiny fabric, the Cruz V2 has a more sophisticated look thanks to extra fabric that can be unzipped to create an extension and reveal a mesh peek-a-boo window.

The Cruz V2 canopy also has a second mesh panel toward the front of the canopy that can be opened for even more airflow. By comparison, the 2019 Cruz has a single ventilated window, and you'll need to roll and secure a fabric flap to open it.

And while the older Cruz canopy includes the UPPAbaby logo in large lettering, the Cruz V2 shows the logo on a small leather tab for a more sophisticated look.

2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Weight and Dimensions

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is both bigger and smaller at the same time.

While the Cruz V2 will save you nearly 4 inches in height on its fold, the stroller is 4 pounds heavier because of its larger wheels and roomier Toddler Seat.

Compare the weights and dimensions of both strollers below.

      Stroller Weight

      • Cruz: 21.6 pounds
      • Cruz V2: 25.5 pounds

      Dimensions

2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Fold

Who doesn't wish their stroller folded smaller? The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is more compact when folded, making it easier to stash your stroller in your trunk or carry it while traveling.

Compared with the previous version, the Cruz V2 is nearly 4 inches shorter in height when folded.

2020 UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. 2019 UPPAbaby Cruz Basket

The underseat basket on the Cruz V2 offers more storage space than ever before, holding up to 30 pounds of gear.

While the older Cruz has a smaller basket with a 25-pound capacity, the basket on the V2 version is now more comparable to that of the Vista (although still not quite as big).

Plus, the basket has a more streamlined look without fabric snaps seen on earlier models, as well as an extra storage pocket for accessories like a rain cover or car seat adapters.

Older car seats will fit onto the 2020 Cruz, and car seat adapters haven't changed for the V2 version.

All accessories from 2019-earlier will also fit the Cruz V2, with one exception: Because of its redesign, the Cruz V2 has a different Piggyback ride-along board than previous Cruz models.
