UPPAbaby Vista Toddler Seat vs RumbleSeat Seat Comparison

The UPPAbaby Vista grows from a single to a double stroller with the addition of a second seat.

The expansion is easy, but learning about the differences between the two Vista seats can be a bit confusing because both the main stroller seat and the second seat sold separately look quite similar but have very different functionality.

The Toddler Seat is the upper seat that came with your purchase of the single stroller, while the RumbleSeat is a smaller version that only fits the lower position. In early 2024, UPPAbaby released a new RumbleSeat called the RumbleSeat V2+ with additional features and most notably increased its size and weight limit - now 40 pounds. In 2025, UPPAbaby took it a step further and released the RumbleSeat V3 to match the Vista V3 seat design.

On this page, we'll answer frequently-asked questions about the differences between the UPPAbaby Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat converting the UPPAbaby Vista into a double stroller.

Toddler seat vs. rumble seat

Is the UPPAbaby Toddler Seat the same as the RumbleSeat?

No, the Toddler Seat is not the same as the RumbleSeat.

If you originally purchased the Vista as a single stroller, you already own the Toddler Seat: it came in the same box as the rest of the stroller. The Toddler Seat only fits on the upper position of the Vista and cannot attach to the lower position of the stroller, so if you're turning the Vista into a double for toddler and infant and you'd prefer your toddler in front, they'll need the RumbleSeat.

The UPPAbaby RumbleSeat is sold separately, allowing families to expand the stroller when another child comes along. The RumbleSeat only fits on the lower position of the Vista.

Can the UPPAbaby Toddler Seat go on the bottom position?

No, the UPPAbaby Toddler Seat does not fit on the lower position of the stroller. The Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat are not the same size and are therefore not interchangeable.

Because the frame of the Vista narrows toward the bottom of the stroller, the Toddler Seat only fits on the upper position, and the RumbleSeat only fits on the lower position.

What is the weight and height limit for the UPPAbaby Vista Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat?

The UPPAbaby Toddler Seat has a weight capacity of 50 pounds and height limit of 40", while the UPPAbaby RumbleSeat V2+ or V3 holds a child up to 40 pounds and 36" in height, whichever comes first. The previous model RumbleSeat (2015-2023) held a child up to 35 pounds.

That means if you have an older child who exceeds the 40-pound weight limit of the RumbleSeat, they'll need to ride in the Toddler Seat in the upper position of the stroller. Your younger child can sit in the lower position, using the RumbleSeat, bassinet or an infant car seat.

Do the UPPAbaby Vista Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat recline?

Yes, both the UPPAbaby Vista Toddler Seat and the RumbleSeat recline. When both seats are facing the parent, both kids can be in a fully-reclined position. Note you'll need the SnugSeat accessory for a completely flat seat for a newborn.

The Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat feature an adjustable footrest that helps position your child's legs for sitting and napping!

Can the UPPAbaby Vista Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat face either direction?

Yes, both the Toddler Seat and RumbleSeat are reversible, making the following configurations possible:

  • Both seats facing parent
  • Both seats facing forward
  • Toddler Seat facing parent, RumbleSeat facing forward
  • Toddler Seat facing forward, RumbleSeat facing parent (not recommended due to space constraints)

Can I use the UPPAbaby Vista RumbleSeat and bassinet together?

No, when the UPPAbaby Vista is a double stroller, there is not enough space to fit the bassinet in the upper position and the RumbleSeat in the lower position.

To use the bassinet with a double stroller, sit your older child in the upper Toddler Seat, with the baby in the bassinet on the lower position. You'll need the Vista Upper Adapter and Lower Adapter for this configuration.

If you're having twins, the Vista can fit two bassinets or two UPPAbaby infant car seats, also using the Upper and Lower adapters.

Which adapters do I need for the UPPAbaby Vista?

The only double configuration of the UPPAbaby Vista that does not require the purchase of any adapters is Toddler Seat + RumbleSeat.

If you want to use an infant car seat or the bassinet when the Vista is a double, you'll need to purchase the UPPAbaby upper adapters and, for some configurations, the lower adapters.

See our post, Which Adapters Do I Need for the UPPAbaby Vista?, for a full explanation of the adapters needed for your desired configurations.

While this is an older video, the Vista configurations remain unchanged. It shows an overview of the Vista's double configurations and the adapters needed for each configuration:
