2021 Nuna PIPA vs. 2020 Nuna PIPA Car Seat Comparison

Nuna released two new versions of the Nuna PIPA infant car seat series in 2020, as well as one new car seat base: the PIPA RX infant car seat, PIPA Lite R infant car seat, and RELX base. No changes were made to the PIPA series for 2021, except for introducing a new model to the PIPA line in the Fall, the PIPA Lite RX.

The Nuna PIPA infant car seat was updated in 2019 to bring flame-repellant free fabrics to the standard PIPA, which had already been a feature of the PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX. Nuna also updated colors for all three versions of the PIPA for a streamlined color scheme that coordinates with their line of strollers and other gear.

2021 NUNA PIPA vs. 2020 NUNA PIPA

Nuna is not changing the PIPA or PIPA RX infant car seat and base for 2021!

The Nuna PIPA RX released in 2020 comes with Nuna's new RELX base that is designed to be even easier to install in more vehicles. Just like the PIPA, the PIPA RX has the Sky Drape magnetic cover, is free of flame repellant chemicals, and can be installed without the base when you are traveling.

2021 NUNA PIPA LITE, LITE R, LITE LX, and LITE RX vs. 2020 NUNA PIPA LITE, LITE R, and LITE LX

The Nuna PIPA Lite, Lite R, and PIPA Lite LX infant car seats will be continuing into 2021 unchanged. In 2020 Nuna released the PIPA Lite R with the new RELX base to join the PIPA Lite and Lite LX ultra-lightweight models.

Just like the PIPA Lite and PIPA Lite LX, the PIPA Lite R has the same ultra-lightweight, flexible foam shell, is free of flame repellant chemicals, and always needs the base when installing in a vehicle.

As with the PIPA Lite, the Lite R does not have a Sky Drape but still has a large sun canopy. Instead of including an additional organic cotton insert, the PIPA Lite R has a removable organic insert already attached.

Newly introduced in Fall 2021, the Nuna PIPA Lite RX is the car seat with all the features that parents love about the PIPA line. Exclusive to the PIPA Lite RX, there are magnetic harness holders, a height-adjustable headrest and a no-rethread harness for easier adjustments. The Nuna PIPA Lite RX is the only model in Nuna's PIPA Lite series that can be installed without the base for travel and taxis.
