When Should I Change From the Bugaboo Bassinet to Seat? When Can I Use the Seat?
The Bugaboo bassinets (included with the Kangaroo, Donkey, and Fox strollers) are suitable for babies who cannot yet sit in the upright position of the seat without support, cannot roll over, and cannot push themselves up on their hands and knees. If your baby is rolling over and/or pushing themselves up, the bassinet needs to be discontinued. The Bugaboo bassinets are also outgrown if your baby reaches 20 pounds.Â
Bugaboo recommends not using the stroller seat until your baby has outgrown the bassinet, whether that's by weight or development. They recommend the stroller seat for babies over 6 months old, however, if your baby has outgrown the bassinet and has good head and neck control, you can move your baby earlier. We suggest consulting your pediatrician for questions pertaining to if your baby is ready to transition. Typically, most babies move around 5-6 months of age.Â
Once you start using the stroller seat, most babies like to face their parent, as facing out can be overwhelming to many babies early on. You can recline the seat a bit to make sure your little one is comfortable and well supported.Â
Happy strolling!
