What Age Do You Stop Using a Baby Monitor?

Since all family's needs and preferences are different, there's no strict age when you should stop using a baby monitor. For those children that are on different floors or in larger homes, making it hard to hear them, baby monitors may be used quite a bit longer than if your child is in the room next to yours. Every situation is different.

Some parents may find they begin checking the baby monitor less when their baby begins consistently sleeping thru the night, however, it can bring a lot of comfort to be able to look at them whenever you wish, and to know when they wake in the morning and after naps. Once your little one moves out of the crib, you may begin using your baby monitor again more regularly as you check to make sure they stay safely tucked into their bed! Many parents retire the baby monitor once sleep has been established in their bed, while others choose to keep the baby monitor just in case it's needed.

So while some parents transition away from the baby monitor between ages 2-4, others will keep the camera as a tool for many years to use when needed. Ultimately, the decision should be based on what feels good to you and your family's circumstances!
