Is a car seat allowed to touch the seat in front of it?

Most of the time, the answer is no. However, some seats or cars allow the car seat to lightly “kiss” the seat in front of it - meaning barely touching.

Typically this is both a question for the car seat manufacture and the vehicle manufacture. It should be detailed in your car seat manual and vehicle owner’s manual.

For example, Clek says this:

“Yes. The child car seat can be in contact with the front vehicle seat, providing that the vehicle seat is not pushing or firmly bracing the car seat and that the vehicle manufacturer also allows contact (see your vehicle owner's manual for more information).”
