All New: Updated UPPAbaby Mesa V3!

There’s exciting news for fans of UPPAbaby: the next evolution of their popular Mesa infant car seat is on the way. Meet the Mesa V3, the latest version in a long-standing line of trusted car seats, following the original Mesa, the now-discontinued Mesa Max, and the Mesa V2.

UPPAbaby has built a reputation as one of the most reliable and parent-approved brands in baby gear. Known for blending safety, style, and ease of use, their products are thoughtfully designed to support families through every stage of early childhood.

In this post, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about the new Mesa V3: the updates, the features that remain the same, stroller compatibility, sizing details, and what comes next once your child outgrows it.

What’s New on the UPPAbaby Mesa V3?

The Mesa V3 introduces some smart and stylish upgrades that improve comfort and ease of use. Here’s a closer look at what’s changed:

  • Larger Full-Coverage Canopy
Offers even more sun protection for your baby than previous models.

  • Mesh Peek-a-Boo Window with Cover
Lets you check in quietly while improving airflow on warmer days.

  • UPF 50+ Sun Protection
Built-in sun shielding gives added peace of mind when out and about.

  • 25 Headrest Positions
A major upgrade from just 4 on the Mesa V2. This provides a more precise fit as your baby grows, supporting safety and comfort.

  • Magnetic Buckle Holders
A small but meaningful improvement. These magnets keep the harness out of the way while you place your baby in the seat.

  • New Color Options
UPPAbaby has refreshed the fabric styles to match their modern, premium look.

Key Features That Stay the Same

While the V3 introduces welcome changes, it keeps the trusted features that made the Mesa V2 a favorite:

  • 5-point harness with no rethreading required

  • Ergonomic carry handle for easy transport

  • Compatible with Vista and Cruz strollers without adapters

  • Removable, machine-washable fabrics

  • European belt routing for secure, baseless installation

  • FAA-approved for use on airplanes

  • Same base design with:

    • SMARTSecure™ installation system

    • Auto-retracting LATCH connectors

    • Bubble level indicators

    • Adjustable foot for a better vehicle fit

Stroller Compatibility: What Works With the Mesa V3?

If you're already using UPPAbaby gear, the Mesa V3 will fit right in. It connects directly to the Vista and Cruz strollers with no adapters needed. It’s also compatible with the Minu and Ridge strollers when paired with separate adapters.

Outside of the UPPAbaby system, compatibility is more limited. However, a few brands do offer adapters for the Mesa V3, including:

  • Thule Urban Glide 1, 2, and 3 (Single, Double, and 4-Wheel) with Thule’s universal adapter

  • BOB Single Strollers (2016 and newer) with the BOB adapter

  • Mima Xari, Xari Sport, and Zigi with Mima adapter

  • Veer Cruiser and Cruiser XL (All-Terrain and City versions) with Veer’s car seat adapter

If you plan to mix and match brands, just make sure to confirm adapter availability first.

Size, Weight, and Specs

The Mesa V3 is the same size and weight as the V2, so you won’t notice a difference in how it fits in your car or feels to carry. However, there’s one important update: the maximum weight limit is now 30 pounds, compared to 35 pounds on the V2. The 32-inch height limit remains the same.

This lower weight capacity might seem like a drawback, but most babies outgrow their infant seat due to height or torso length before hitting the weight limit. Remember, your baby’s head should stay at least 1 inch below the top of the seat shell.

Mesa V3 Specs:

  • Usage: 4 to 30 lbs, up to 32 inches

  • Carrier Weight: 9.9 lbs

  • Base Weight: 9 lbs

  • Carrier Dimensions: 25.8" L x 17" W x 23" H

  • Carrier on Base: 28" L x 17" W x 25" H

  • Base Dimensions: 20.8" L x 14.5" W x adjustable height (9.8–12.8")

What Comes After the Mesa V3?

Once your baby has outgrown the Mesa V3—whether by height, weight, or when their head is less than one inch from the top of the seat—it’s time to move on to the next stage: a convertible car seat.

Convertible seats are designed to stay in the car. They’re bigger, heavier, and don’t attach to strollers, but your baby is ready to sit in the stroller seat at this stage anyway. Many parents now opt for rotating convertible car seats, which swivel toward the car door to make loading and unloading much easier on your back.

Here are a few popular options to consider:

  • UPPAbaby Rove – A great next step if you love UPPAbaby’s quality and design.

  • Cybex Callisto G 360 – A rotating seat packed with safety and style

  • Clek Foonf – Built like a tank with advanced safety features and extended rear-facing capability.

  • Joie Baby Saffron – A European favorite now available in the U.S., offering excellent safety and comfort at a more affordable price point.

  • Nuna RAVA – Simple installation and a sleek, no-fuss design.

  • Nuna EXEC – All-in-one design that grows with your child from birth through booster years.

If you’re not sure which to choose, we’re happy to help guide you through the options.
