UPPAbaby Vista V2 vs. Bugaboo Fox5 | Stroller Comparison

UPPAbaby Vista V2 vs. Bugaboo Fox5 | Stroller Comparison

Choosing the perfect stroller for your family can feel like a daunting task, especially with the wide range of options available on the market. Among the most popular models are the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and the Bugaboo Fox5. Both strollers are designed to offer comfort, style, and convenience for both parents and children, but they each have unique features that set them apart.

Even though the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and Bugaboo Fox5 both offer a sleek design and impressive functionality, it’s worth noting that comparing the Vista V2 and Fox5 is not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. While the Fox5 is designed as a single stroller, the Vista V2 is a versatile convertible stroller that can be expanded from a single to a double stroller to accommodate growing families. When making your decision, it's crucial to keep this key difference in mind, as it can greatly affect which stroller is the best fit for your family's needs.

In this article, we'll explore the key differences between the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and Bugaboo Fox5, so you can decide which one is the best fit for your family's lifestyle and needs.

UPPABABY VISTA V2 AND BUGABOO FOX5 STROLLERS

UPPAbaby Vista V2

The UPPAbaby Vista V2 makes it easy to stroll with your family, no matter how many kids are along for the ride. Sold as a single stroller with an included bassinet, the Vista can convert into a double stroller with the purchase of a second seat later on. Add a ride-along board accessory, and the Vista can even accommodate three children.

On top of its versatility, the Vista offers a number of winning features like a standing fold, an extra-large storage basket, and compatibility with UPPAbaby's Mesa car seat models, which click on the stroller without adapters and can be removed with one hand.

In 2020, UPPAbaby released the Vista V2, featuring upgraded suspension for better maneuverability, a redesigned sun canopy, new colors and more. UPPAbaby did not change the Vista V2 in 2021 or 2022.

Bugaboo Fox5

The Bugaboo Fox5 stroller is clever and agile, like its namesake. It’s sleek and beautiful design is also sturdy enough to handle all your adventures! It is one of the lightest full-size strollers on the market, and made of the highest-quality materials with suspension in its all-terrain wheels and frame.

The Bugaboo Fox5 offers new features like an easier, one-handed fold, simpler to use recline, and an adjustable canopy and footrest allowing the stroller to grow with your growing child. Its advanced suspension system and large wheels make it easy to navigate any terrain, while the reversible seat and adjustable handlebar allow for versatile and customizable positioning.

The stroller also has a large under-seat basket for storage and a convenient one-handed fold for easy transportation and storage. In addition, the Fox5 has a very generous extendable canopy with a peek-a-boo window that provides excellent ventilation and protection from the sun.

The seats on the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and Bugaboo Fox5 are removable and reversible, allowing your child to face you when she's younger and face forward to explore the world as she grows. Both strollers can also be used with an infant car seat and bassinet (see next sections for more details).

Of course, the Vista V2 offers more positions than the Fox5, as it can convert into a double stroller with a number of configurations involving the stroller seats, infant car seat and bassinet.

UPPAbaby Vista V2 vs. Bugaboo Fox5 Bassinet

Both strollers offer a safe, flat place for baby to sleep while strolling - the Vista V2 bassinet is even overnight sleep approved! A bassinet allows your baby to lie flat on her back rather in her slightly-curved positioning in an infant car seat. Both the Vista V2 and Fox5 bassinets are well-ventilated with mesh panels, which allow for more air flow than the hot, protective foam of a car seat, and keep baby completely shaded from the sun.

The Vista V2 comes with a standalone bassinet, whereas the Fox5 comes with bassinet fabric that you simply attach to the seat frame. When you are ready to transition your baby out of the bassinet, you take off the bassinet fabric and attach the seat fabric to the seat frame. This is great for families with smaller storage room, as you are never having to store a big bassinet, just the fabric and mattress. However, it is a drawback to those that see themselves going back and forth a bit during the transition from bassinet to stroller seat or for those that still want to use the bassinet in their home.

The Fox5 bassinet includes an aerated 3D comfort mattress made from innovative 3D mesh, while the UPPAbaby bassinet includes a UPF 50+ visor that extends from the canopy. Both bassinets have a hard bottom that allow them to be placed anywhere, making them convenient to bring along for a restaurant nap or an overnight at a hotel.

Both Bugaboo and UPPAbaby also offer a bassinet stand. The UPPAbaby stand can be used for overnight sleep as baby’s first crib at your bedside. Also, both stands still come in handy after the baby outgrows the bassinet around 6 months. The Bugaboo stand can also be used with the stroller seat as a portable high chair, while the UPPAbaby bassinet stand can be paired with a fabric insert for its next life as a laundry hamper.

Both bassinets can be used until approximately 6 months, depending mostly on the height of the baby. The Fox5 bassinet might buy your baby a bit more time in the bassinet, as it's nearly 3.5 inches longer than the Vista V2 bassinet.

Bassinet Dimensions

  • Vista V2: 25"H x 17"W x 31"L
  • Fox5: 24.6”H x 16.5”W x 34.4”L

Bassinet Height and Weight Limit

  • Vista V2: 20 pounds or until baby can push up on hands and knees (whichever comes first)
  • Fox5: 20 pounds

UPPAbaby Vista V2 vs. Bugaboo Fox5 Fold

Both the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and Bugaboo Fox5 strollers are easy to fold, and stand when folded —offering convenience for both storage and for lifting the stroller into the car. Plus, the fabrics don't touch the ground when either model is folded, preventing the stroller from getting dirty.

When the Vista V2 is folded, the exposed bumper bar is easy to grab for lifting the stroller. See how the Vista V2 folds in this video.

The Bugaboo Fox5 fold is new and improved, and much more intuitive than the previous model Fox3. It’s a one-handed fold, with an automatic self-standing position.

Conclusion

If you're trying to choose between the UPPAbaby Vista V2 and the Bugaboo Fox5 strollers, one factor to consider is whether you need a stroller that can be used as a double in the future or just a single one for now. Parents who are planning to have another child soon often opt for the Vista V2 since it can be converted into a double stroller, saving them the cost of buying a new one later on. Additionally, the Vista V2 has several features that families appreciate, such as its large storage basket, easy folding mechanism, and the ability to use it with the UPPAbaby Mesa V2 and Mesa Max car seats without the need for adapters.

However, it's worth noting that not all parents can accurately predict when they'll have their next child, and some prefer to wait until they've had their first baby before deciding if they need a double stroller. Furthermore, strollers from reputable brands like UPPAbaby and Bugaboo have good resale value, which means you can always upgrade to a double stroller if you need one later.

The Bugaboo Fox5 is a popular stroller choice due to its stylish design, all-terrain capabilities, and easy buttery push. And for many age gaps it’s the perfect answer with its Comfort Wheeled Board for an older child to hop a ride!
