Peg Perego YPSI vs Nuna Demi Next Stroller Comparison
If you’re in the market for a stroller that can grow with your family - from the early years to multiple stroller riders, the Peg Perego YPSI and the Nuna DEMI Next are excellent options!
The Peg Perego YPSI and Nuna DEMI Next are both convertible strollers that can start as single strollers and later convert to hold two children in seats or a combination of seat, car seat, or bassinet! They are also great options for twins as both can hold two seats, two car seats, or two bassinets.
The Peg Perego YPSI is newer as it only debuted in 2019 and gained a second seat option in 2020. But its manufacturer isn't new to the stroller game: Peg Perego is an Italian maker of baby gear since 1949. The YPSI is also one of the lightest strollers that convert to a double, weighing in at only 22.6 pounds as a single.
The Nuna DEMI Next is Nuna’s only double stroller, and is unique in how the seats are arranged. Instead of the stadium or tandem seat option often seen (like on the YPSI), the DEMI Next has stacked seats. This configuration makes the stroller easier to steer and less long when in double mode!
In this post, we'll help you determine which stroller is better for your family: the Peg Perego YPSI or the Nuna DEMI Next.
Peg Perego YPSI
The Peg Perego YPSI is among the lightest and most affordable convertible strollers on the market. Just add a set of adapters to the YPSI’s 22-pound frame, and your stroller instantly becomes a double when you add an infant car seat or bassinet for your newborn.
All-wheel suspension, a standing fold and a height-adjustable canopy are among the features that make the YPSI easy to use and maneuver.
Made in Italy by Peg Perego, the YPSI offers a two year warranty with a one year extension if registered within three months of purchase. Peg Perego introduced a second seat for the YPSI in 2020, although the stroller itself did not change.
Nuna DEMI Next
The DEMI Next is Nuna's first stroller that can accommodate a second seat for siblings or twins. The DEMI Next offers a sleek design, 2-year warranty, sturdy all-terrain wheels with adjustable suspension, and compatibility with the Nuna PIPA series of infant car seats considered to be among the safest on the market.
The DEMI Next includes a zip-out seat lining for an all-weather mesh seat and custom dual suspension that changes the ride for smooth and rough surfaces. A magnetic buckle makes it even easier to help your child in and out of the stroller, while brown leatherette detailing on the handle and bumper bar add a contemporary look.
In 2024, Nuna updated the DEMI Next - previously called the Demi Grow. New additions include:
-
Included riding board (compatible only in single mode with Demi Next and not sold separately) - holds 50 pounds
-
Larger basket that holds 22 pounds
-
More canopy ventilation
-
Over a pound lighter in weight (now 26 pounds!)
-
Updated footrest that allows children to be able to climb into the seat by themselves
-
The Aire Protect canopy cover is now a matching black material versus being a light taupe on the Demi Grow
-
One additional upright position on the seat for children's comfort
-
Front wheel size increased by one inch

Peg Perego YPSI vs. Nuna DEMI Next Double Stroller Configurations
Both the YPSI and DEMI Next can expand from a single to a double stroller and can accommodate any combination of 1 or 2 stroller seats, 1 stroller seat and rider board, 1 or 2 bassinets, or 1 or 2 infant car seats. The YPSI can actually accommodate up to 3 children with an optional ride along board for an older child to stand on. The DEMI Next cannot hold 3 children as the rider board only works in single mode.
On the YPSI, the second seat attaches to the lower portion of the frame - stadium style. On the Nuna DEMI Next, the second seat attaches to connectors in the back of the basket so that the seat is positioned behind and beneath the primary seat - stacked style.
Both designs offer pros and cons.
Seat Positioning
The advantage of the YPSI Double is that the basket space is not impacted with the addition of the second seat. However, the advantage of the Nuna DEMI Next Double is that the weight of both children is placed on the strongest part of the stroller, the rear axle, making it easier to push and steer than the longer YPSI Double.
The downsides of the DEMI Next design: The child essentially rides inside the stroller basket, which limits their view and movement—as well as your storage options. The second seat for the DEMI Next is also more difficult to access for the parent (although your child might think it's fun to climb in).
Configurations
Both strollers offer numerous configurations for siblings or twins: You can add a second stroller seat, car seat or bassinet to either stroller.
But unlike the YPSI, both of which are reversible, the DEMI Next sibling seat (bottom seat) can only face forward.
Double Adapters
Adapters are needed to convert the YPSI from a single to double. The YPSI adapters are packaged together as a set of double adapters.
The YPSI double adapters—both upper and lower—are needed at all times in double mode, regardless of the configuration. The upper adapters can only be attached and removed when the stroller is folded, while the lower adapters snap onto the frame. The stroller can fold with upper and lower adapters attached.
No adapters are needed for the DEMI Next stroller seats. The stroller has built in adapters for both stroller seats and can be used from a double out of the box with one infant car seat or bassinet and one stroller seat. The stroller comes with two sets of car seat adapters.
Ride-Along Board
The YPSI can be a ride for three kids when you attach the Ride With Me Board to the stroller.
The DEMI Next comes with a rider board for an older sibling! However, it will not fit on the stroller in double mode so the DEMI Next is only for two children.

Peg Perego YPSI vs. Nuna DEMI Next Bassinet
A bassinet is the coziest way for your baby to begin strolling: It allows your infant to lie flat, which is safest for her head and neck, and provides more airflow than a car seat. Both bassinets include a stand for your home.
Both the Peg Perego YPSI and Nuna DEMI Next have bassinet options that can be used on the stroller in either single or double mode, as well as on a bassinet stand for overnight sleeping in your home.
Your purchase of the DEMI Next bassinet, sold separately, includes a stand, which can be used in your home or by your bedside as baby's first crib. The DEMI Next Bassinet features a Sky Drape magnetic cover, additional ventilation panels integrated into siding near your baby's head for customized comfort, whatever the season, and non-slip feet for added security and fabric protection.
The YPSI Bassinet and Homestand includes ventilation inserts, a window and an extended apron that provides protection from the elements. Plus it includes a stand to bring baby to your bedside.

Peg Perego YPSI vs. Nuna DEMI Next Fold
Both the Peg Perego YPSI and Nuna DEMI Next stand when folded, making the strollers easy to lift into the car. The YPSI is smaller when folded than the DEMI Next.
For both strollers (and most doubles), you'll need to remove the lower/bottom seat before folding.
How to Fold the Peg Perego YPSI
To fold the YPSI, first press the triggers on both sides of the top seat, then flip the seat over onto itself. Then, find the gray switch on the bar in the middle of the frame and pull it. The stroller will then fold in half. For the most compact fold, remove the YPSI seat before folding the stroller, then remove the upper adapters (which can only be detached when the stroller is folded).
