Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3 | Stroller Comparison

Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3 | Stroller Comparison

Nuna and UPPAbaby are two of the most trusted names in the baby gear industry, renowned for their high-quality strollers that blend functionality with style. For years, parents have debated which brand offers the best stroller, and the conversation intensifies with every new release. Among their standout models are the Nuna DEMI Next and the UPPAbaby Vista V3, both of which are convertible, single-to-double strollers designed to grow with your family. The Vista V3 received an update from the Vista V2 in late 2024, so let's take a closer look at how this new version compares to the Nuna DEMI Next!

In this article, we’ll break down the key features of each stroller to help you decide which one is the best fit for you and your growing family.

Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

Which stroller provides the most value straight out of the box? Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

Both the DEMI Next and the Vista V3 come boxed as a single stroller.

What's in the box?

The DEMI Next comes boxed with its frame, stroller seat, two infant car seat adapters, a rain cover and a ride-on-board.

The Vista V3 comes boxed with its frame, stroller seat, seasonal seat liner, rain shield, bug shield, and toddler storage bag.

Since the Vista V3 no longer includes a bassinet, the price is slightly less than the DEMI Next. However, the DEMI Next's included infant car seat adapters and ride-on-board (only able to be used when the stroller is in single mode) allow it to hold two passengers straight out of the box. Out of the box, the Vista V3 can only be used as a single stroller. You will need a few additional pieces to turn the stroller into a double (or triple!) stroller.

So what's the better value? Initially, for parents expecting twins and need a stroller to hold two infant car seats or need a stroller to hold an infant and an older sibling, the DEMI Next with its included car seat adapters and ride-on-board may provide a better value.

However, the UPPAbaby Vista V3 can hold up to three children once you purchase the additional items needed. The DEMI Next cannot hold three children so if you are planning to continue to grow your family it may be worth it to go with the Vista V3!

Let's take a closer look at the configurations offered:

Double Mode: The DEMI Next offers a variety of seating options to grow with your family, including the ability to accommodate two Nuna infant car seats, two bassinets, two toddler seats, or a combination of these, providing plenty of flexibility for different stages of your child's development.

Triple Mode: The DEMI Next does not have a triple mode as the rider board cannot be used in double mode.

Single Stroller Mode: Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

Both the Nuna DEMI Next and the UPPAbaby Vista V3 are reliable, full-size strollers packed with features designed to make life on the go easier and more comfortable for both parent and child.

Each stroller is compatible with infant car seats, has built-in suspension for a smooth ride on any terrain, and includes a spacious storage basket to carry all your essentials. The all-weather seats keep your little one comfortable year-round, while the reversible stroller seat supports up to 50 lbs, allowing for a versatile and enjoyable strolling experience!

Stroller Seat: Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

The DEMI Next stroller seat includes a removable Merino Wool seat liner. When the seat liner is removed, a summer seat is revealed. The backing of the stroller seat is mesh, providing air flow through the seat to keep babies/toddlers cool and comfortable. The seat can be reclined to 4 positions and also features a magnetic, 3 to 5-point no-rethread harness. The seat sits in an elevated position that brings parents closer to their little riders for effortless interaction during strolls.

Similar to the DEMI Next, the Vista V3 seat features a new all-weather design with a seasonal seat liner for cooler days, or it can be converted to a breathable mesh seat for warmer weather. The Vista V3 harness was also updated with a magnetic buckle and easy-to-adjust, no-rethread harness. The toddler seat can recline to 6 different postions from fully upright to fully reclined. Note since it is a v-style seat, you will need the SnugSeat accessory if you wish to use the toddler seat with a newborn. The SnugSeat transforms the toddler seat into a safe, flat surface, providing a comfortable space for your newborn.

Car Seat Compatibility: Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

Both the DEMI Next and Vista V3 can accommodate one or two infant car seats.

The DEMI Next comes with two sets of infant car seat adapters and is compatible exclusively with the Nuna PIPA infant car seat series.

The Vista V3 is compatible with UPPAbaby infant car seats directly, without the need for any adapters. It also offers greater flexibility, allowing you to pair it with other brand infant car seats by using separate car seat adapters (sold separately).

Double, Twin and Triple Configurations: Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

Both the DEMI Next and Vista V3 can be configured as double or twin strollers, with their respective second seats sold separately. The DEMI Next includes a ride-on board that allows for one child to ride while another is seated. However, the ride-on board cannot be used when two seats are attached, so the DEMI Next can accommodate a maximum of two riders.

In contrast, the Vista V3 offers the PiggyBack ride-on board, which can be added to the stroller frame in both single and double configurations. This allows an older child to hitch a ride, meaning the Vista V3 can accommodate up to three children!

Inline vs. Stacked: Nuna DEMI Next vs UPPAbaby Vista V3

Converting the DEMI Next to a double or twin stroller is very straight forward. The stroller frame includes integrated adapters allowing a second seat to quickly be added. The sold separately DEMI Next Sibling Seat, is actually a replica of the included main seat and also can hold up to 50 pounds!

When used as a double/twin stroller, the DEMI Next features a stacked seating configuration, with the second seat positioned beneath the main seat, within the storage basket. While this setup offers a smooth and easy push, as the weight is concentrated over the larger rear axle and wheels, it does reduce the storage space—most of the basket becomes inaccessible once the second seat is added. However, the trade-off is a more balanced and effortless ride!

The Vista V3 converts into a double stroller by adding a RumbleSeat (second lower seat, sold separately) and requires the purchase of upper adapters to create space for each child to sit comfortably. The RumbleSeat comes with its own set of adapters that connect it to the bottom front of the Vista V3 stroller frame. However, the RumbleSeat is smaller than the main Toddler Seat and is designed to hold a shorter child, with a weight limit of up to 40 pounds. The Vista V3 is designed to have the younger or smaller child in the bottom RumbleSeat, while the older or heavier child sits in the top Toddler Seat. Placing the smaller child in the bottom seat makes the stroller easier to push, as the lighter weight reduces the load at the front. Double DEMI Next vs. double Vista v3

Comparing the inline vs. stacked configurations, there are a few key points to note:

    1. The inline configuration of the Vista V3 may result in parents being forced to put their younger child on the bottom/front of the stroller and their big kid on the top. The stacked configuration of the DEMI Next positions both children within parents' immediate eyesight and arms reach for effortless interaction with each little rider. This is especially important to consider for parents expecting twins!

    2. By design, in-line doubles become much longer with the addition of a second seat. With the added weight of a second child at the front of the stroller, the Vista V3 may be a bit more challenging to turn and steer- think hopping a curb. The stacked configuration results in a smaller footprint that is easier to maneuver, turn and steer.

    3. The Vista V3, requires multiple adapters to create double configurations. For parents, this means more moving parts and pieces to keep track of.

    4. Recline positions become limited in an in-line configuration while both seats can be fully reclined at the same time in the stacked configuration.

    5. In the stacked configuration, storage space is lost. The in-line configuration allows you to continue to utilize the full storage basket and bring along all the stuff that two kiddos require!

    6. While it may seem odd to have a child sit under another stroller seat and positioned in the storage basket, the consensus from parents is that older siblings LOVE to ride in the bottom seat of the DEMI Next. They are able to climb in and out on their own and get a very unique view of the world.

Which stroller is best for my family? Nuna DEMI Next vs. UPPAbaby Vista V3

The DEMI Next and the  Vista V3 share many common features expected from a premium baby gear brand. The key difference lies in their configurations. The DEMI Next may be the best fit for families with an older child no longer interested in riding in a stroller, but apt to hitch a ride on a standing board. It may also be ideal for twin parents who prefer to keep both babies close! The Vista V3 may be a better fit for families that are on-the-go with a lot of stuff, or need a work horse that can transport three children. If a storage basket is a double stroller necessity the Vista V3 is the way to go!
