Cybex Callisto G 360 All-in-One Car Seat vs. Nuna REVV Convertible Car Seat | Rotating Car Seat Comparison

Rotating car seats are all the buzz these days, and it's exciting to see more brands jumping on board to offer their own stylish and innovative options!

Cybex and Nuna are both highly regarded brands known for their safe, comfortable, and stylish car seats and baby gear. Both brands have offered a rotating car seat for some time, however, Cybex just released a new rotating all-in-one car seat - the Callisto G 360. The Callisto G 360 is a rotating car seat that you can use as a "one and done" car seat. It works for your newborn, as well as your school aged child, and all the years in between.

The Nuna REVV, one of our best selling car seats, is a convertible car seat. It can be used rear-facing with your infant and forward facing with your preschooler. However, it does not turn into a booster like the Cybex Callisto G 360.

Let's take a closer look at how these two rotating car seats compare!

Differences between Cybex Callisto G 360 vs. Nuna REVV

There are a few major differences between the Cybex Callisto G 360 and Nuna REVV with the biggest being that the Callisto G is an "All-in-One" car seat, which means it can be the only car seat your child uses. It fits a newborn baby to a child in elementary school. Some other major differences between these two seats include:

  • Longevity: As previously mentioned, the Callisto G becomes a booster seat, but also to note, the REVV only has a 40lb or 43" limit.
  • Technology: The Callisto G 360 has a  SensorSafe Bluetooth-enabled chest clip that sends alerts to a smartphone to help keep children safe. It informs you if the child unbuckles themselves, the car's temperature, the amount of time a child has been in their seat, if the child is left in the car, and also alerts family members of these alerts are ignored.
  • Cybex Callisto G 360 has an oversized, adjustable canopy that offers full sun protection (this feature is typically only seen on infant seats), plus perforated shell and mesh fabrics that keep the seat cool and comfortable in all seasons

Similarities between Cybex Callisto G 360 vs. Nuna REVV

Both the Cybex Callisto G 360 and Nuna REVV offer a 360 degree rotation for easy loading and unloading. Other similiarties between these two car seats include:

  • The Nuna REVV offers an all steel frame with Aeroflex foam side-impact protection system, EPP energy-absorbing foam and top-of-the-line plastics. The Cybex Callisto G 360 features a steel frame with built in linear side impact protection (LSP) system to reduce side impact crash forces on the child.
  • An anti-rebound panel that inhibits movement of the seat in a crash
  • Five recline positions in both rear and forward facing modes
  • GreenGuard Gold Certification and use of naturally flame-resistant materials with no added chemicals for safer use

Safety and Installation: Cybex Callisto G 360 vs. Nuna REVV

Both the Cybex Callisto G 360 and Nuna REVV have safety features not seen on many other car seats. They both include an anti-rebound panel, which inhibits the car seat's motion in a crash and aids in the tightness of the installation. They also both have built in side impact protection pods that absorb energy in the event of a crash.

The Cybex Callisto G 360 and Nuna REVV both offer a steel frame, offering heavy-duty protection compared with the plastic shells of most car seats.

The installation of both car seats is actually quite similiar as well. Both have a door under the seat pad that you open and route the vehicle seat belt through.

Installing the Callisto G 360 is effortless and secure thanks to its SafeLock system, which allows for a one-time setup in seconds. Simply fasten the tether to your vehicle’s anchor point, route the seatbelt through the belt guide, click it into place, and close the SafeLock door.

Nuna recommends using the vehicle seat belt rather than the LATCH system for the Nuna REVV because it eliminates confusion later on. Eventually, the combined weight of any car seat and your child will exceed the 65-pound limitation of your car's LATCH system, requiring a switch to the seatbelt, anyway. Besides, seatbelt installation is as simple as threading the belt through Nuna's True Tension doors, closing the doors and buckling!

Colors and Fabrics: Cybex Callisto G 360 vs. Nuna REVV

Both Cybex and Nuna seats are Greenguard Gold Certified, and use naturally flame resistant fabrics. They are clean and contain no harmful chemicals. The Callisto and REVV come in a few diffferent beautiful, neutral colorways.

Benefits and Drawbacks: Cybex Callisto G 360 vs. Nuna REVV

So which is better: the all-in-one Cybex Callisto G 360 or the popular Nuna REVV

The decision depends on your family's unique needs, lifestyle, budget and the age of your children.

While the Cybex Callisto G 360 can be the only car seat you'll ever have, you may determine it's better to purchase the car seat you need right now. Plus many families prefer the convenience of using an infant seat the first few months to year of their baby's life. The Callisto will not work on any strollers, and is not portable like an infant car seat. Also, something to keep in mind, is in booster mode it will be more bulky than other just booster seats. Parents might hesitate to keep the same car seat for 10 years due to the accumulation of crumbs, dirt, and germs from everyday use. However, the price of the Callisto is great when you take into account it's the only car seat you'll need!

You can use the Nuna REVV from birth as well, but you will need another harnessed car seat after your child out grows it. Typically the REVV's 40 pound/43" limits are met around 4 years old. We do not recommend putting a 4 year old in a booster seat - they're just not mature enough - so you will need another seat that harnesses them in before transitioning to a belt only booster.

Both the Cybex Callisto G 360 and Nuna REVV are luxurious rotating car seats that offer convenience and ease for parents. They're super plush and comfortable, and easy to get a safe and secure install. Once you try a rotating seat, you'll be hooked!
