Bugaboo Kangaroo vs. Nuna DEMI Next | Stroller Comparison
Are you looking for a versatile and comfortable stroller that can grow with your family? The Bugaboo Kangaroo and Nuna DEMI Next are two strollers that will last from infancy to outings with two little ones (or three in the Kangaroo's case)!
The Bugaboo Kangaroo and Nuna DEMI Next are two of the highest-quality strollers that can grow with your family. Both models have hearty tires that will smoothly roll across any terrain, reversible seats, easy folds, and beautiful fabrics including amazing sun canopies.
However, the Bugaboo Kangaroo and Nuna DEMI Next do have a number of key differences—especially in how they convert from single to double (and beyond).
New to Bugaboo in late summer 2024, the Bugaboo Kangaroo is Bugaboo's second single to double stroller, but first ever tandem single to double stroller. Bugaboo is known for their unique Donkey stroller, which expands from single to double sideways, but the Kangaroo expands with stadium style seats! The Kangaroo converts to a double by adding a second seat to the lower position of the stroller frame. Much like stadium seats, the seats are in a line on the frame and both kids can easily see out.
The DEMI Next converts to a double by adding a second seat below the first one, by the back wheels for a stacked style. This makes the stroller more compact and less long, allowing it to push easily with the weight distributed over the back bigger wheels.
Let’s see how the Kangaroo and DEMI Next compare!
Bugaboo Kangaroo
The Bugaboo Kangaroo is the single-to-double stroller that adapts as your family grows and needs change. It's a traditional style tandem-style double stroller, which offers in-line seats with one on top and one on bottom. Whether in newborn stroller mode or adjusted to carry two or even three kids, the suspension system and extra-large shock-absorbing wheels provide the smoothest, most comfortable strolls, wherever you go. Engineered for ease, it’s quick to convert into the perfect setup for your family. Choose from over 20 configurations available when combined with dedicated accessories (all sold separately).
One of the best parts of the Bugaboo Kangaroo is the ability to keep your newborn close to you with the upper newborn adapter! This allows the bassinet to go on top while your toddler takes in the views from the bottom front seat. Plus, you can bring a third kid along with the Bugaboo comfort wheeled board.
Nuna DEMI Next
The DEMI Next is Nuna's only stroller that can accommodate a second seat for siblings or twins. The DEMI Next offers a sleek design, 2-year warranty, sturdy all-terrain wheels with adjustable suspension, and compatibility with the Nuna PIPA series of infant car seats considered to be among the safest on the market.
The stroller includes a zip-out seat lining for an all-weather mesh seat and custom dual suspension that changes the ride for smooth and rough surfaces. A magnetic buckle makes it even easier to help your child in and out of the stroller, while brown leatherette detailing on the handle and bumper bar add a contemporary look.
The UPF 50+ Aire protect canopy™ provides optimal protection from the elements, while the built-in privacy drape and ventilation panels ensure ideal airflow. Its four recline positions and adjustable backrest angle provide that perfect combination of comfort and support for your child's ride. Plus, the one-handed recline adjustment makes it simple to cater to your little one's preferences.

Bugaboo Kangaroo vs. Nuna DEMI Next Configurations
The seats on the Bugaboo Kangaroo and Nuna DEMI Next are removable and reversible, allowing your child to face you when younger and face forward to explore the world later on. Both strollers can also be used with an infant car seat and bassinet. However, the Bugaboo Kangaroo includes a bassinet with purchase! A bassinet provides a newborn a safe, flat surface to rest or sleep, which is the safest for their developing head, neck, and spine, as well as their airways.
The Bugaboo Kangaroo offers more than 20 configurations and even allows you to put the bassinet on top (using the upper newborn adapter) to keep a closer eye on your newborn. The Kangaroo is not made for twins however - only one bassinet or car seat can be on the frame. The seats can both face the same way or opposite ways.
A few of the Bugaboo Kangaroo configurations:
The DEMI Next includes a rider board (50 pound limit), but it cannot be used in double mode. It can be detached or easily flips into the stroller basket when not in use. When ready to convert the DEMI Next to a double, the second seat attaches to connectors in the back of the basket so that the seat is positioned behind and beneath the primary seat.
The advantage of the Nuna DEMI Next design: When it becomes a double the length of the stroller remains that of a single stroller. It’s easy to maneuver in tight spaces, and the weight of both children is placed on the strongest part of the stroller, the rear axle, making it easier to push than other doubles.
The downsides of the DEMI Next design: The child essentially rides inside the stroller basket, which limits their view and movement—as well as your storage options. The second seat for the DEMI Next is also more difficult to access for the parent (although your child might think it's fun to climb in).
The photos below shows some of the DEMI Next configurations:
Bugaboo Kangaroo vs. Nuna DEMI Next Fold
Both the Bugaboo Kangaroo and Nuna DEMI Next are easy to fold, and stand when folded - offering convenience for both storage and lifting the stroller into the car. Plus, the fabrics don't touch the ground when either model is folded, preventing the stroller from getting dirty.
The Bugaboo Kangaroo fold is s a one-handed fold, with an automatic self-standing position.
Video of the Bugaboo Kangaroo fold coming soon!
While the Nuna DEMI Next can be folded with one seat attached, removing the seat before folding provides access to a convenient, leather-wrapped carry handle integrated into the frame.
To fold the DEMI Next, lock the stroller, remove the second seat (or both if you wish), and pull up on the triggers (on the sides by the handlebars) to fold it down. The DEMI Next is self standing and has a convenient carry handle to lift it.
