Best Rotating Convertible Car Seats of 2024

One baby gear trend that has recently made its way from Europe to the U.S. is the rotating car seat!

Designed either to rotate in a full 360° motion from rear to forward facing and back, or designed to swivel so the seat pivots from rear or forward-facing toward the vehicle door, it's safe to say the rotating design is parent and grandparent friendly and a way to improve your child's safety in a number of ways.

Research shows more and more that keeping your child rear-facing until at least the age of two or longer helps minimize the risk or severity of spinal injuries in event of a crash. A rotating convertible car seat makes it easier to buckle your child into their car seat, then turn it rear-facing, incentivizing caregivers to keep the child rear-facing for longer.

The ergonomic design also means it's more back-healthy for parents to get their not-so-little-anymore child in and out of their car seat because the rotating design positions the child so they're facing the door of the vehicle.

Finding the best rotating convertible car seat for your family will depend on a number of factors, from how the car seat fits in your vehicle to how long you plan to use the car seat before your child is ready for a booster seat.

In this post, we'll review the best rotating convertible car seats.

Best Convertible Car Seats from Newborn to Toddler to Big Kid

Small baby in Baby Jogger City Turn on left and bigger child in Maxi-Cosi Emme 360

All five rotating convertible car seats available at Strolleria can support your child from birth until they're ready for a booster car seat. PLUS the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360 and the Evenflo Revolve360 Extend turn into booster seats! You may never need another car seat again.

Between all rotating car seats, the Baby Jogger City Turn, Cybex Sirona S, and Evenflo Revolve360 Extend have the highest rear facing weight capacity. The Nuna REVV and Maxi-Cosi Emme 360 both have a rear facing capacity of 40 pounds. However, at that point you can turn the Maxi-Cosi Emme forward facing and continue using, while you will have to move to a different seat with the Nuna REVV as it maxes out at 40 pounds rear and forward facing. We recommend switching to a forward facing harnessed seat at that time versus a booster. The minimum starting weight for a booster seat is 40 pounds, however, there are other factors that come into play on if your child is ready for a booster such as age and maturity.

Best Rotating Convertible Car Seats for Travel

While no convertible car seat is truly compact and easy to travel with when you factor in all the other gear you may be bringing with you, some brands make it easier that others to travel with your child's favorite and familiar car seat.

None of the current rotating convertible car seats are FAA approved, meaning you won't be able to bring the car seat onto the plane with you and install it for your child to sit in their car seat in-flight, and will instead need to check the car seat as luggage. Ideally, you should have a padded, luggage-style travel bag to protect this valuable safety gear, to ensure it's kept in good working condition, and also clean and free of debris when you arrive at your destination or back home.

Unique to Nuna, the Nuna Universal Wheeled Transport Bag uniquely fits the REVV, or many of Nuna's other strollers or car seats, with added travel protection.
