The Bugaboo Donkey seires stroller is getting lighter and smarter with the Donkey3 model!
The Bugaboo Donkey3 features a cleaner, more modern design; new wheels that reduce the weight of the stroller; a redesigned canopy with added ventilation; a new side luggage basket, and more.
As with previous versions, the Donkey3 converts from a single stroller (mono) into a side-by-side double for siblings or twins (duo or twin).
We'll look at the differences between the Bugaboo Donkey2 and the Bugaboo Donkey3 in this comparison.
The Donkey3 is now available at Strolleria in Mono, Duo, and Twin modes. The Donkey3 was released in 2020 and will not be undergoing any updates for 2021.
The Bugaboo Donkey3 ranges in price from $1,299 for a Mono single stroller to $2,098 for a special-edition Twin stroller. Pricing varies based on color choices and configurations.
The black frame for the Donkey3 costs $100 more than the aluminum frame, while the Classic Collection and Mineral Collection versions of the stroller have additional costs because of their special-edition colors and fabrics.
The Mono is a single stroller with one seat and bassinet fabric. The Duo stroller—intended for a newborn and a toddler—includes two seat fabrics and one bassinet fabric, while the Twin stroller includes two seat fabrics and two bassinet fabrics for twins.
See pricing for each configuration of the Donkey3 below.
The Bugaboo Donkey3 is lighter than the previous model because of the reduced weight of its wheels. A new wheel design with EVA, puncture-proof foam reduces the weight of the stroller by 1.54 pounds, allowing the single stroller to weigh in at less than 28 pounds.
See the weights for the Donkey2 and Donkey3 below.
The Donkey3 is better-suited for warm-weather strolls, thanks to a ventilation panel in the canopy that let in the breeze.
The Donkey3 has a mesh peek-a-boo window that allows a look at your child. The Donkey2 canopy does not have a peek-a-boo window and is not ventilated unless you purchase a separate Breezy canopy.
The Donkey3 is available in several new colors, with each component of the stroller packaged separately to allow for greater customization.
You can choose the color of your stroller frame, style set bassinet/seat fabrics, and canopies—or choose from a few prepackaged options for the sake of simplicity (and less packaging).
A custom Donkey3 stroller comes in three boxes for a mono stroller, six boxes for a duo and seven boxes for a twin. Bugaboo packages a few "complete" strollers in one box for a mono, two for a duo, and three for a twin.
Additionally, Bugaboo is launching new special-edition versions, the Mineral Collection and Classic Collection, that feature more premium fabrics and unique colors. These collections are also available as "complete" strollers in fewer boxes.
See below for Donkey3 color options.
These Donkey2 colors have been discontinued for the Donkey3 model, so act fast if they're your favorites.
New for the Donkey3 model, the bassinet of the Bugaboo Donkey3 includes two side pockets to allow for storing essentials like your keys or phone.
As with the previous model, the Bugaboo Donkey3 comes with seat fabrics for both a bassinet and toddler seat. As your baby grows out of the bassinet, simply swap the fabrics, which attach to the same metal seat frame.
Additionally, the Donkey3 model features a rotating handle that makes it easier to take baby in and out. The carry handle for the bassinet also functions as a bumper bar for the toddler seat.
When you're strolling with one child, the Bugaboo Donkey has a convenient side luggage basket for storing essentials like your diaper bag or even your groceries.
The Donkey2 comes with a cover that fits on top of the basket but can be easy to dislodge or misplace.
The Donkey3 basket has a new solution: a zippered pouch integrated into the basket that can be extended for more storage or tucked inside the basket when not in use.
The Donkey3 and Donkey2 models are compatible with the same car seats, adapters and accessories—so if you already own a Donkey2 but want to upgrade your canopy or fabrics, you can purchase Donkey3 parts.

*Please note only the Turtle One model (item number 81703ZW01) is compatible with the Donkey series, the older Turtle model (item number 81701ZW01) will not be compatible and only fits the Fox and Lynx models.
