Is Goat Milk the Closer to Breastmilk than Cow's Milk?

Baby breastfeeding

Goat milk is sometimes considered closer to breastmilk than cow's milk because it has similar protein levels to breast milk and lower lactose, making it easier to digest for those with sensitive tummies or allergies. Some medical providers recommend goat milk based formulas for babies with digestive issues like colic, diarrhea, constipation, reflux, or spit-up due to its gentler nature. However, it does still contain lactose so a baby with a milk allergy may still react to goat's milk. Goat milk is an excellent source for protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals.

Please note fresh goat milk should not be a substitute for breastmilk or formula for a baby under one. We always suggest talking with your baby's pediatrician for their recommendations.
