Do I Have to Use a Diaper Bag?
No, you do not have to use a diaper bag, but they can make your life a lot easier as a parent, especially when your child is under age 1! There's no denying that you will need some things when out and about with an infant - diapers and wipes at minimum, but many need other things such as formula, water, snacks, change of clothes, medication, sunscreen, etc.! But what you put those in, is up to you!
Some parents are light packers or choose to leave the bulk of the items in the car just in case. While others like to be prepared, and it eases their anxiety when they know they have everything they may need for a day out. Plus others are packing for multiple children.
Some parents choose to do a non-traditional diaper bag, and just use any bag they love as a "diaper bag" - like a backpack or large purse. Diaper bags do offer some features not seen on other regular bags though - such as a place for bottles, hooks to hook onto stroller handles, lots of zippers and pockets, changing pad, wipe compartment, etc.! Traditional diaper bags are very convenient in this way! However, whatever you decide is fine, plus you can always adjust as you go and change things if they're not working well for you!
