Weighing just 8 pounds, the WAYB Pico is the forward-facing toddler car seat designed perfectly for travel from airplanes to taxis and beyond.

The WAYB Pico is lightweight yet durable, made with aerospace-grade aluminum alloy (the same type used for space shuttles!) instead of the bulky plastic shell found in most car seats. The Pico exceeds U.S. safety standards and is FAA-approved for air travel.

Designed for forward-facing use and recommended for children over age 2, the Pico can be installed with the LATCH system or with a vehicle or airplane seatbelt. The Pico's Astroknit wool/polyester blend fabrics are breathable and easy to clean, helping to keep your child comfortable.

The Pico folds compactly and can be stowed in a trunk or an airplane overhead bin, making the car seat a convenient companion wherever your travels take you.

The Pico Cup Holder keeps snacks and sippy cups at the ready for your child. This adventure-ready addition easily clips onto either side of the Pico Car Seat, making install a breeze in any vehicle.

Great for city living but incompatible with AA 737s!

The Pico is a GAME CHANGER for urban adventures. It’s compact and lightweight enough to just hang off our stroller! It’s opened up a whole world for my daughter and her nanny--now they can just jump in a taxi and take on the world.

I so wish I could say the same for travel, but we encountered a big problem: You can't install the Pico properly in an American Airlines 737. At this price point, I hadn’t even considered a compatibility issue with a ubiquitous plane configured for a major airline, but here we are.

The seat belts in economy are the precise wrong length for the location of the belt path on the Pico—the metal part of the buckle would need to go through the belt path clip, and that’s not possible. An extender would only exacerbate the issue. I finally figured out that you can stick the red belt path clip through the loop that holds the buckle onto the plane's seat belt, but that leaves a loop of belt that can't be tightened. My toddler spent our flights awkwardly pitched forward with the harness in the wrong place--no plane naps here, I'm afraid.

I’d classify it as “better than nothing” for air travel, but my daughter was both safer and more comfortable in her trusty Cosco Scenera Next (a comparably lightweight seat that cost roughly a seventh of what I paid for the Pico). I'm not sure what I'll do for our next trip; I so enjoyed NOT carrying the Cosco, but the Pico just doesn't work in a 737. I'm disappointed that it wasn't the travel home run I was expecting.
