The Thule Urban Glide 2 features several upgrades that reinforce its status as one of the best strollers for jogging and hiking.
For both its single and double jogging stroller, the Swedish manufacturer of premium outdoor gear has updated the look of the stroller, along with the brake, lock and canopy, and added reflective details for better visibility.
If the name Thule Urban Glide 2 sounds familiar, that's because the same name previously referred to the company's double stroller. As of 2018, the product names are now Thule Urban Glide 2 and the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double.
But the 2017-earlier Urban Glide models (the Thule Urban Glide 1) offer many of the same features that active families love, like air-filled tires with suspension for a smooth ride on any surface; a roomy zippered storage basket; a one-handed fold; reclining seat and more.
In this post, we'll cover the differences between the Thule Urban Glide and Urban Glide 2 single and double jogging stroller models.
The colors for both the single and double versions of the Thule Urban Glide were updated in 2021, but no functional changes have been made since the 2018 release.
As of 2021, Thule offers the Urban Glide 2 in these sophisticated colors:
The Thule Urban Glide 2 double stroller is available in a single color, Black on Black.
With more features comes a higher price. The starting price for the 2021 Thule Urban Glide single stroller is $529.95, with some colors priced at $579.95. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double is 749.95.
For the Urban Glide 2 models, the location of the brake has been relocated to the handlebar. In addition to parking the stroller, the hand brake can also be used to decelerate, which is helpful for runners heading down a hill.
The previous Urban Glide models featured a foot brake and did not include a mechanism for slowing down the stroller.
The Urban Glide 2 strollers include a lock that is automatically engaged when you fold the stroller, making it quicker and easier to store.
Previous models required manually fastening a plastic strap to the frame in order to keep the stroller locked when lifting it into the car.
The canopy seen on Thule Urban Glide 2 models has extra features to keep your child comfortable and safe on your ride.
The canopy now features ventilation on the sides of the canopy, while the previous models included ventilation on only the front of the canopy. In another new feature for the Urban Glide 2 model, the canopy also includes UPF 50+ material that shields your child from the sun.
The Urban Glide 2 canopy is fixed to the frame and extends to multiple positions so you can adjust it for optimal sun coverage. On previous models, the canopy is detachable from the frame so it could be lowered to various positions, but the canopy fabric itself isn't extendable.
Additionally, the Urban Glide 2 canopy has a reflective trim that help you and your child stand out in lower-light conditions. The Urban Glide 2 also has reflective rims on the wheels of the stroller, which are features not seen on older models.
In previous years, Thule made only one car seat adapter: a universal adapter that provided a one-size-fits-all solution for car seats from a dozen brands.
Thule now offers two additional types of car seat adapters that provide a more tailored fit for specific car seats: Maxi-Cosi/Nuna/Cybex (which share the same type of connection) and Chicco. The new adapters consist of two small posts, which are less bulky than the ring-shaped universal adapter.
The adapters will fit all model years of the Urban Glide.
The following accessories work for both the Urban Glide and Urban Glide 2 models:
The bumper bar is a new accessory for the Urban Glide 2 model and is not compatible with previous models.
