New for 2018, the Thule Urban Glide 2 features several upgrades that reinforce its status as one of the best strollers for jogging and hiking.
For both its single and double jogging stroller, the Swedish manufacturer of premium outdoor gear has updated the look of the stroller, along with the brake, lock and canopy, and added reflective details for better visibility.
If the name Thule Urban Glide 2 sounds familiar, that's because the same name previously referred to the company's double stroller. For 2018, the product names are now Thule Urban Glide 2 and the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double.
But the 2017 Urban Glide models offer many of the same features that active families love, like air-filled tires with suspension for a smooth ride on any surface; a roomy zippered storage basket; a one-handed fold; reclining seat and more.
And while supplies last, the older versions are 20% off at Strolleria!
In this post, we'll cover the differences between the 2017 and 2018 single and double jogging stroller models so you can determine which one is right for your family.
For the single stroller, three colors of the older Urban Glide model are continuing for 2018: Mars Red, Dark Shadow and the company's iconic Thule Blue, all of which have silver-colored frames.
New for 2018 is a fourth color, Black on Black. The new model pairs black fabric with a black frame for a sleek and stylish look.
For the double stroller, the 2017 model is available in Dark Shadow, Mars Red and Thule Blue.
However, for 2018, Thule is only producing the double stroller in Black, which includes black fabric and a silver frame.
With more features comes a higher price.
The price is 2018 Thule Urban Glide single stroller is $449.95, with the Black on Black color priced at $479.95. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double is $679.95.
The 2017 strollers were priced lower, and they're now 20% off at Strolleria. That means the single stroller is $319.95 and the double stroller is $519.95.
For the 2018 models, the location of the brake has been relocated to the handlebar. In addition to parking the stroller, the hand brake can also be used to decelerate, which is helpful for runners heading down a hill.
The previous Urban Glide models featured a foot brake and did not include a mechanism for slowing down the stroller.
The new version of the Urban Glide includes a lock that is automatically engaged when you fold the stroller, making it quicker and easier to store.
Previous models required manually fastening a plastic strap to the frame in order to keep the stroller locked when lifting it into the car.
The canopy of 2018 Thule Urban Glide 2 models has extra features to keep your child comfortable and safe on your ride.
The 2018 canopy now features ventilation on the sides of the canopy, while the previous models included ventilation on only the front of the canopy. In another new feature for 2018, the canopy also includes UPF 50+ material that shields your child from the sun.
The 2018 canopy is fixed to the frame and extends to multiple positions so you can adjust it for optimal sun coverage. On previous models, the canopy is detachable from the frame so it could be lowered to various positions, but the canopy fabric itself isn't extendable.
Additionally, the 2018 canopy has a reflective trim that help you and your child stand out in lower-light conditions. The Urban Glide 2 also has reflective rims on the wheels of the stroller, which are features not seen on older models.
In previous years, Thule made only one car seat adapter: a ring-shaped universal adapter that provided a one-size-fits-all solution for car seats from a dozen brands.
In 2018, Thule introduced two new car seat adapters that provide a more tailored fit for specific car seats: Maxi-Cosi/Nuna/Cybex (which share the same type of connection) and Chicco. The new adapters consist of two small posts, which are less bulky than the ring-shaped universal adapter.
All adapters will fit the 2017 and 2018 models.
The following accessories work for both the 2017 and 2018 models:
The bumper bar is a new accessory for 2018 and is not compatible with previous models.
